Lies

Thank me for all that I’ve done for you,
Only if you will forgive me for all that
I’ve done to you.
You asked me if you will do.
And in what I believed was honesty,
I said you would. It could have just been our kisses.
Maybe I meant your smile was nice
To wake up in the mornings to,
Or maybe I meant you’d look great with me
When we go out.
Perhaps I meant I’d earn for both of us
If you were a stay-at-home husband
Or maybe I just said it because
Dreams only last as long as you’re asleep.

Beautifully written. I especially loved the ending – dreams indeed last only as long as you are asleep. When you wake up, it is time to *realize* those dreams.

Flint Stones: Lovely 🙂 So good to see you here.

S: It's intriguing that the beginning imressed you. For me, that is the most important bit of this poem.

Kiran: Exactly, and I thought it was best left to interpretation. So glad you came up with that.

UD: Always good to see you here but this has been, by far, the most flattering comment. 🙂 Thrilled. Hope you're well.

    Raj : Thanks, Raj.

notgogol: Idu fiction da! I can't keep tagging my poetry “fiction”, makes me seem demented. All is A-okay! If it's not trust me to make it so. But I am very glad you stopped by.

    Shailaja : 🙂 It's strange how… never mind. On email 🙂

CL aka TE : Tanks, men.

Oooh…how true (what The Visitor said too). 'Lies', I like very much. In fact most of what you do, I like! We met briefly, but you 'almost' changed my life! And now, you make me wanna do more and live more…
